Race Ends In Fiery Crash On Collins Ave. In Miami Beach

MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – Cellphone video captured a fiery crash on South Beach early Tuesday morning.
Miami Beach Police said witnesses reported two vehicles speeding northbound on Collins Avenue around 4:30 a.m.
One of the vehicles, a silver Ford Mustang convertible, crashed into a parked vehicle and caught fire around 30th Street. No one was inside the parked vehicle at the time.
"Three black men in that vehicle were speeding, hit another car," said a witness.
One man said the Mustang hit another car before crashing into his.
"It hit my car parked right here. After they hit my car, they spun out into the glass windows, caught on fire," said the same witness.
Police said the three men in the Mustang ran off, leaving a fiery scene behind. The other vehicle that had been speeding also took off.
Sources told CBS4 that the Mustang was a rental car and the people inside were tourists from New York
Firefighters rushed to the scene and extinguished the flames and the cleanup began.
Police are reportedly questioning several people in connection with the crash, including one person they suspect was in the Mustang. Police are also reportedly questioning a person they believe the driver of the Mustang was racing against.
