FHP Launching New Hit & Run Awareness Campaign
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Unfortunately, hit and run's are one of the most common crimes in South Florida. That's what sparked the Florida Highway Patrol to try and raise awareness of the accidents that often have deadly consequences.
Just recently in South Florida, a hit and run took the life of Chef Stefano Riccioletti on Miami Beach and led to multiple charges against the alleged driver in the crash, Karlie Tomica.
Monday, FHP, along with other state agencies, law enforcement, and safety partners were planning to hold a press conference to talk about the state's new campaign, "Hit and Run. From Bad 2 Worse."
The point behind the campaign is to try to get drivers to understand that if they are involved in a crash, choosing to drive away without stopping is only going to make things worse for everyone involved.
