TALLAHASSEE (CBS4) – There are 220 million reasons to play the Powerball lottery Wednesday. The jackpot is estimated at $220 million.
When nobody matched all 6 numbers last Saturday night in the multi-state game, the jackpot rolled over once again.
Lottery officials say the jackpot has been growing since July 2, from $20 million, and has rolled over eleven times without a winner.
The lump sum cash payout on $220 million is $118.8 million.
Powerball tickets are sold in 42 states plus Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The Florida Lottery jackpot isn't too shabby either. It's estimated at $37 million.
Lottery officials said the current rollover series is expected to collectively generate more than $50 million for public education in Florida.
