FDOT Opens New I-595 Ramp

BROWARD (CBSMiami) – On Friday morning, motorists on I-595 gained a new way to jump on Florida's Turnpike.

At 5 a.m., the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) opened a new ramp that guides drivers from I-595 to the southbound Turnpike.

The new ramp is part of ongoing efforts to eliminate the weaving movements at the Florida's Turnpike interchange as part of the I-595 Express Corridor Improvements Project. The new ramp replaced an existing movement at the Florida's Turnpike interchange.

In the coming weeks, an additional lane will be opened on the ramp to give motorists the option to exit directly from I-595 to Griffin Road.
