MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Federal investigators are offering a hefty reward for anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of a Florida bank robber dubbed the "Ball Cap Bandit."

In every robbery he's wearing a ball cap – and he's been a very busy guy, pulling off a string of bank heists dating back to December.

It makes bank customers a bit edgy.

"You don't know what anyone's thinking or capable of or scoping, someone's counting money in front of you or behind you if that's going to trigger them to do it, you don't know," said bank customer Stephanie Dinnall.

The FBI told CBS4 the "Ball Cap Bandit" is also a man on the move. He began in Palm Beach then made his way into Broward.  Up until now, he's hit 10 banks – all but one is Chase.

"He stands in line, watches the counter and when he gets up there he hands them a note typically or makes some kind of demand that he wants the money or will commit some act of violence," said FBI Agent Justin Fleck.

Fleck points out this robber is more dangerous than the rest. If he doesn't get what he wants, he lets everyone know he's got a gun and is not afraid to show it.

"He's pulled the fire arm out and grabbed a customer who's standing nearby and stuck the fire in the customer's belly while forcing the teller to give up money," Fleck said.

That ball cap has done a good job concealing his identity – in most cases, but not all. On several occasions, cameras have gotten a pretty clear look at his face.

The FBI hopes someone will get a good look and figure out who he is.

"Hopefully people will look at his face, his facial features," said Fleck. "Remember that even though in some of the photos he has facial hair that can easily be shaved, changed, so focus on his face, what he's wearing."

The FBI is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction. To give a tip call the FBI at (754) 703-2000 or Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
