Father & Son Arrested Over Alleged Beating
DELRAY BEACH (CBS4) - A Delray Beach father and son have been arrested and charged with battery on the elderly and criminal mischief for their alleged role in the beating of an 84-year-old man over a parking dispute. Police arrested Barry Hochstadt and his son after the son allegedly attacked the man.
According to police, the victim, Lawrence Blank, was loading items into his car when a silver corvette almost backed into him. After exchanging words, police said at that point, the son got out of the corvette and threatened Blank.
The 84-year-old Blank told the son to stay out of the fracas and the son responded by allegedly shoving Blank against his car and onto the ground. Police said the son then stood over Blank and continued punching. At that point, police say Barry got out of his car and kicked Blank in the groin.
Police said the Hochstadt's left the scene and that Blank refused medical transit. Surveillance video was shown to police and according to the police report Hochstadt could've left before the fight started and didn't pull the son off of Blank.
According to Delray Beach Police, the Hochsatdt's admitted to the altercation, but the son claimed Blank grabbed him by the throat and threatened to slap him before Blank was thrown to the ground. The father, Barry, said he got out and tried to break up the fight.
