CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) – Big celebrations across South Florida as the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team beat Japan in the World Cup Championship.
Fans of both nations started arriving at Fritz and Franz Bierhaus in Coral Gables eager for a rematch four years in the making.
USA fan Travis Stokes was one of the first there and made a prophetic prediction.
"I think the USA has been a scoring machine and they really play team soccer, so when you play team soccer you will always be undefeated," he said.
USA fans at the Bierhaus erupted into cheers at the end when Team USA beat Japan 5-2.
Extra tables and chairs, along with a 16-foot screen, were brought out for the hundreds of soccer fans who came out to cheer the team to victory.
The crowd, many wearing red, white and blue, said this was the perfect ending to a Fourth of July weekend.
"The first 15 minutes of the game was crazy, just goal after goal after goal," said Marjorie Hereter.
"There's no better felling than seeing your own country score, you know," said Elier Estrada. "You can't put a price to that."
This marks the third time the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team has won the World Cup.
