FAMU To Fill Halftime With Music
TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/AP) – With the suspension of the Marching 100 following the hazing death of drum major Robert Champion, Florida A&M University had to figure out what to do during halftime.
The solution – keep the crowds entertained with a different type of music. The school is now lining up recording artists to perform at the games. On Monday they announced the performer known as "Future" will be the star attraction when the Rattlers open their home schedule by hosting Hampton University on Sept. 15.
Future, who was born Navyvadius Cash in Atlanta, also will meet and greet winners of a promotional contest.
The university, which is celebrating its 125th anniversary, has not yet announced other halftime headliners.
The first game also will feature an old school versus new school DJ battle that will include FAMU alum Will 'Power' Packer.
