FAMU Band Members Charged With Manslaughter In Hazing Death
ORLANDO (CBSMiami/AP) — New charges have been filed against ten former Florida A&M University band members accused in the hazing death of drum major Robert Champion.
The band members were charged with manslaughter Monday, after being charged with felony hazing last May. Two others have also been added to the manslaughter charges for Champion's death.
Robert Champion, 26, was found dead on a bus in a hotel parking lot in November 2011. He died after a hazing ritual done by members of his FAMU Marching 100 band.
Champion was found with bruises on his chest, arms, shoulder and back, said prosecutors. Witnesses said that he was also vomiting.
Champion died of internal bleeding, according to Orlando police.
