Family Makes Plea In Wake Of Woman's Unexplained Shooting Death
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Eighteen-year-old Princess Lampley looks at the bandage on her arm and wonders why. She can't understand how she survived the gunfire, but her older sister Lakisha Lampley did not.
"I still cant believe she's gone," said Princess Lampley.
The sisters had just left Club Romance at NW 36th Street and 35th Avenue. They hopped in a car with four friends. Just a mile away, police said a dark colored SUV pulled up beside them and began shooting into the Lampley's vehicle.
"I said 'I got hit" and I seen the her blood on my pants. I thought it was from me and she was like no that's her she got hit," recalled Princess. "She was just like, 'I'm hit. I'm hit.' That was it. That was her last words."
They didn't realize they were just around the corner from the Ryder Trauma Center and instead drove all the way to Northshore Medical Center where doctors pronounced Lakisha dead.
"I just didn't feel like living," sobbed Mary Lampley, Lakisha's mother. "It took so much out of me to see my daughter innocent, didn't do nothing, just laying in the bed ."
Now, Lakisha leaves behind five children ages nine months to 10 years old. Some of them are left asking where is mom?
"Just tell her mama's going to a better place and she's still watching her," said Mary Lampley. "I can't lie to her. Her mama's in heaven watching her and she know that."
Police are asking for the public's help to solve this murder. They want anyone with surveillance video along NW 36th Street between the hours of 3-6 a.m. Sunday to look at it and call them. They also want people to call in if they were at Club Romance Saturday night and noticed anything.
