MIAMI (CBSMiami) --  The family of a man killed while walking home in Miami-Dade  is asking for the public's help to find those responsible.

Brandon McGuire who had just turned 19-years old was killed on Halloween, Miami-Dade Police said.

His family is inconsolable, grieving the loss of a son and brother, not knowing who took him from them or why.

"He was my baby. He took care of me.  He protected me," said his mother Brenda McGuire. "He didn't do anything. They took my only son away from me."

Detectives said Brandon was walking home from a friend's house just before 8 p.m. Relatives say Brandon planned to take his niece trick-or-treating and was less than a block away from home when he was shot and killed near NW 143rd Street and NW 15th Drive.

Brandon's father, Patrick McGuire, said he feels helpless. He says he didn't trust some of his son's friends and warned him to stop hanging around them the day before he was gunned down.

"Losing him was the worst, I feel like someone took my arms my legs, cut my inside out. I don't know what more to do," said Patrick McGuire, Brandon's father.

Brandon worked with his dad fixing cars and had plans to go to school and eventually become an airplane mechanic. His death and lost dreams are a living nightmare for his loved ones.

The case has yet to be solved which is why his family is asking for anyone who has information on the case to step forward.

Police say they are working some leads and along with the McGuire family believe someone knows something.

The family is offering a $10,000 reward for a tip that leads to an arrest.

"No one is coming forth. We just want someone to say who did this," said Brenda.

"I'm begging anybody who did that to my son come forward," said Patrick.

Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at (305) 471- TIPS.
