FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – The parents of a missing South Florida man are making another plea to find him two months after he vanished.
"It's a painful thing to go through," said Astrid MacKrell, the mother of 25-year-old Steven MacKrell
Steven MacKrell disappeared in the early morning of July 30th.
He left Lucky's Tavern in Downtown Fort Lauderdale and was seen on surveillance at 2:32 a.m. buying snacks at a Valero gas station at 3601 North Dixie highway in Pompano Beach.
Outside the gas station, he is seen having a run-in with the occupants of another car. That car is seen driving after Steven MacKrell when he leaves.
"I'm preparing for the worst, but hoping for the best," said Steven MacKrell's brother, Michael MacKrell who was with him hours before he disappeared.
Michael MacKrell is convinced the altercation at the gas station is connected to the disappearance.
MacKrell's family and supporters are actively involved in the search for the casino worker and dad to a 1-year-old daughter.
They have put up posters and looked in canals for his 2013 white Ford Fusion.
"We are keeping hope alive in spite of it being two months to the day today" said his father Donald MacKrell.
Though at one point police were looking at whether MacKrell could have been involved in a fatal Plantation crash the same morning of his disappearance, it is looking less likely.
"As far as details, we have learned it does not appear to be Steven's vehicle," said Fort Lauderdale Police Department Detective Tracy Figone regarding the Plantation accident.
Crime Stoppers is offering a $3000 reward for information on the disappearance. If you have information that can help, you are urged to call (954) 493-TIPS.
