Family Of Lauderhill Man Killed In Hit & Run Ask Public For Help

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - The family of a Lauderhill man who was left for dead after being struck by a truck is asking for the public's help to find the person responsible.
On December 27th, 2014, around 8 p.m., Hurley McCrimmon, 55, was crossing NW 19th Street near NW 14th Avenue when a 2003 blue Ford F-150 slammed into him.
On impact, McCrimmon's body was hurled up onto the sidewalk where he died.
"Hurley was the sweetest, kindest person. He would give you his last penny, he would give you the shirt off his back," said his mother Levert McCrimmon.
Ft. Lauderdale police said the person driving the truck didn't stop to help McCrimmon and sped off.
"You just don't kill someone and then just keep going like if they were an animal. Hiss foot was amputated and found a few weeks later, what is that, what is that," said McCrimmon.
The truck was later found in Lauderhill. Investigators, however, have yet to determine who was behind the wheel.
McCrimmon's family says even though more than a year has passed since the deadly accident, someone has to know something about the crash and who was driving that night.
"We are asking for closure, we cannot close the case until justice has been served for my brother," said McCrimmon's sister Cynthia Holmes.
She added it's hard to believe that her brother, who overcame so much in his life including a deadly skin disease, lost his life like this.
"He beat stage four cancer, all in six months, and for someone to run him over and mow him down it's so profound and disheartening for our family," said Homes.
