Family Makes Plea For Answers In Murder Of Ft. Lauderdale Woman
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - A devastated Ft. Lauderdale family is making an emotional plea to find the man they say shattered their family.
Police spokesman Detective Travis Mandell said Saturday, just after 11 p.m., Burnie Reed got into a fight with his pregnant ex-girlfriend, 19-year old Chutney McNair, the 1100 block of NW 11th Street. As the fight grew more heated, McNair's older sister Bianca tried to come to her rescue.
According to police, Reed then turned his anger toward Bianca, "Seething with rage, Reed brandished a firearm and shot Bianca in the head from a short distance away."
Fearing she would be next, police said Chutney ran for her life. Reed reportedly chased her down and shot her in the head as well.
Both women were rushed to Broward General Medical Center where Bianca died.
"She was a lovable person and I have one thing to say: Burnie, may god be with you," said father Leroy McNair.
Detectives have recently been informed that Reed has threatened to kill Chutney and her family, now that she has been released from the hospital.
Mandell said Reed should be considered armed and dangerous. When arrested he'll be charged with murder and attempted murder.
"Please if you see him turn him in and Burnie if you are watching find it in your heart to report yourself," said the victim's cousin Chastity McNair.
Anyone with information on Reed's whereabouts is asked to call Detective Jack DiCristofalo at (954) 828-6096, Detective Mark Breen at (954) 828-5708 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
