Families Ask For Help To Find Who Killed Two Women
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The families of two women shot and killed in December asked the community for help to find the person or persons responsible for their deaths.
Both women's families begged for any information that may lead to arrests at a press conference Friday morning.
According to Miami Police, Tiarra Grant, 18, and Shalaunda Williams, 22, were shot December 1, 2013 just after 12:15 a.m. near NW 12th Parkway and 65th Street in Liberty City.
Four women in total were shot.
Investigators say an assault rifle was used, but the women were not the intended target.
Instead, detectives believe the bullets were meant for a man, and the four women shot got caught in the crossfire.
"I'm here without my daughter, they never bothered anybody. Tiarra was a good child. She planned on going to college, she was supposed to start college this month. I'm raising my grandchild that doesn't know her mother and will never get to know her mother," said Latisha Thompson, Tiarra Grant's mother.
Police said shots were fired at the scene hitting both women. They were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Unit where they died.
"In this case, the two young ladies had nothing to do with what was going on, they were just there trying to enjoy the holiday weekend and the person that was being shot at the target was in the area. When the bad guys got out, they started looking for them and they got hit," said Sergeant Altart Williams.
Investigators believe several people witnessed the shooting and want the public's help. They do not have a motive.
