EXCLUSIVE: Search Warrant Details Gruesome W. Dade Triple Murder
MIAMI (CBSMiami) - CBS4 News has obtained copies of search warrant affidavits and other police investigative records in the brutal killings of a South Florida woman and her two young daughters.
Police have charged Alberto Sierra with the murders of his estranged wife Gladys and her two daughters, Julia, 6, and Daniela, 4. The bodies were found by a neighbor on November 12 at the home the couple once shared at 7310 NW 4th St. The police documents obtained by CBS4 News offer an inside look at some of the evidence prosecutors may use in court.
The affidavits show DNA evidence was collected from all the victims. The documents show that DNA collected from the body of one of the daughters was analyzed and matched Alberto Sierra. Documents also show the DNA came from nail scrapings, arm swabs, underwear, and the pants of one of the girls.
Miami-Dade police say Sierra and his estranged wife got into an argument during a visit to the Mall of the Americas, where he allegedly stabbed her, then drove her and the children back to the home they once shared. Police say he locked the two girls in a bedroom while he took Gladys Sierra to the master bedroom and suffocated her with a plastic bag, then raped her. Police say he then suffocated the young girls, and had sex with one of them after she was dead.
The documents obtained by CBS4 News show Miami-Dade homicide investigators removed a beige blood-stained comforter from the master bedroom. They also removed a blood-stained bra, t-shirt, yoga pants and pieces of a mattress. They also seized used latex gloves from a trash bag in the laundry room. Police also found blood leggings, underpants and t-shirts belonging to one of the daughters.
Documents also show that police went to an apartment Sierra shared with his mother at 8760 SW 133 Ave. Rd. Detectives seized bloodstained towels along with a camera and memory card. Documents show they also took part the victim's car, in which police say Sierra drove the three victims to the murder scene from Mall of the Americas. Police found apparent blood stains, the documents show, on the gear shift, steering wheel, door panels and floor mats of the car. Police also found a child's shirt with possible semen stains in the vehicle.
The evidence listed as seized in the search warrant returns could be presented to a Grand Jury which could be asked to indict Sierra on three counts of first degree murder. They could also be used in court. Police say Sierra has confessed to the killings, the recorded confession has not been made public.
Sierra is being represented by a public defender who may challenge the validity of the confession.
