Exclusive: Mother Of Teen Found In Marsh Searching For Answers

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Teresa Miranda never thought she'd live to see the death of her child. After Miami-Dade Police identified the body of 18-year-old Hector Miranda, Teresa's son; she and the police are searching for answers.

"Times like these nobody has words that can comfort you right now," Teresa said while holding back tears. "He had a noble heart. He was always good. He had just gotten a new job and was going to get his GED."

Hector's body and that of 19-year-old Marcos Pomares were found in a marshy area near the intersection of NW 133rd Avenue and 25th Street Monday. Both had been reported missing last Saturday.

Teresa said she dedicated her life to raising Hector and his 15-year-old sister. She said losing Hector has been tough on everyone.

"Everyone deals with loss differently," Teresa said. "I tell them he's always going to be in your heart. Be grateful for the short time you knew him."

Marco Pomares' family did not want to speak to CBS 4 News. But, his Facebook page said he worked at Blockbuster. His status updates indicated he was a typical teenager and loved everything supernatural with superpower.

Late Friday afternoon, his page was changed. A picture was added that read, "I loved you yesterday, I love you still, I always have, I always will."

Teresa and police remain stumped on what could have happened to her son, but she said his death was drug related; she will take action.

"If it was drug related which we don't know, getting the awareness out there," Teresa said. "Sometimes things happen for a reason to help others, if you can save one life his death would have been worth it."

According to investigators, the cause of death remains unclassified and is pending toxicology results from the Medical Examiner's Office.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at (305)471-TIPS (8477) or (866) 471-8477.
