Endeavour Set To Launch On April 29th
CAPE CANAVERAL (CBS4) - It's the final countdown for the space shuttle Endeavor.
Spaceflight managers at the Kennedy Space Center set April 29th for Endeavour's launch on its final mission.
The shuttle was originally set to launch earlier this month but NASA has delayed the mission because it conflicted with Russia's plans to send a cargo ship to the International Space Station.
The two-week mission will be led by Mark Kelly, the astronaut husband of wounded congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords who was shot in Tucson, Arizona three months ago. He is awaiting doctors' permission for his wife to attend the launch.
During the mission to the orbiting platform, the shuttle's crew of six will deliver a $2 billion particle physics experiment.
Liftoff time is 3:47 p.m. It will be the 134th shuttle mission overall and the 25th for Endeavour, NASA's youngest shuttle.
Shuttle Atlantis will close out the 30-year shuttle program this summer.
