Elderly Man Rescued From Lauderdale Lakes Condo Fire
LAUDERDALE LAKES (CBS4) – An elderly South Florida man suffered serious injuries early Friday morning in a fire at a Lauderdale Lakes condominium complex.
Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Dani Moschella said firefighters responded to a fire at the Hawaiian Gardens condos, located at 5011 W. Oakland Park Boulevard at 6:48 a.m.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and Broward Fire Rescue officials treated the man at the scene before he was taken to a Florida Medical Center with serious injuries. He was later put into a hyperbaric chamber for smoke inhalation treatment.
Moschella said investigators brought in a smoke detection canine and sent samples to the State Fire Marshal's lab in Havana, FL to determine how the fire started.
