Eight Migrants Returned To Cuba
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Eight Cuban migrants intercepted off Key West in a makeshift boat have been repatriated by the U.S. Coast Guard.
Last Monday, Coast Guard station in Key West received word that 'rustic vessel' was spotted southwest of Key West. A Coast Guard Station Islamorada small boat crew launched and located an 18-foot vessel with eight people on board. The Coast Guard Cutter Nantucket arrived and migrants were transferred onboard. They were given food, water, shelter and basic medical attention.
On Friday, the migrants were returned to Bahia de Cabanas, Cuba.
