Dyron Dye No Longer On Canes Roster
CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) - The lone remaining link on the University of Miami Hurricanes roster to disgraced former booster Nevin Shapiro is no longer a part of the team.
UM said defensive lineman Dyron Dye is no longer a part of the program due to "unresolved issues regarding the NCAA investigation."
The NCAA said Dye lied during at least one of his three interviews about the Nevin Shapiro scandal. Dye counters that he testified a certain way in 2011 because his eligibility was being threatened by an NCAA investigator.
Dye has been on scholarship at the University of Miami since 2009 and has already earned his degree.
His availability at all for the coming season was in question due to an Achilles injury suffered in the spring.
