Duval County Party Leaves One Dead And One In Jail
JACKSONVILLE (CBSMiami) — A party misfortune left a man behind bars after he was allegedly involved with the death of a teenage boy in Duval County.
Both Ryan Scott Ford, 19, and Christopher Hoffman, 25, were at a bonfire party early Saturday when the incident happened, said the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Police say several fights broke out within the large group of people at the party and officers were called to the scene.
Once they arrived, officers were told that an injured person had been taken to the hospital.
Witnesses told police that after being beaten and punched several times, Ford became unconscious. He died a short time later.
JSO's records show that Hoffman is in jail on a manslaughter charge in connection with the murder and is being held without bail.
It was not immediately known if he has an attorney.
