Driver Involved In Toddler Hit And Run Identified
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - The suspect who allegedly hit a toddler with her car, and kept driving, has been identified.
According to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, Traffic Homicide Investigators have arrested Lisa Gail Quiggins, 45, in connection for fleeing the scene of an accident with serious injuries.
On May 15th, at approximately 6 PM, Quiggins's red Volkswagen Beetle, traveling in the southbound lanes of 18th Avenue in the 5200 block, struck a toddler who had ran out from the sidewalk in front of his residence.
The car continued as the child hit the ground and was later transported to Broward Health Medical Center where the toddler was listed in serious condition.
It is believed that Quiggins's license plate was provided to a third person by an unidentified driver of a 4-door black truck who followed the suspect's car.
On May 20th, after officials obtained images from a nearby business's surveillance of the driver who followed the suspect, investigators encouraged the man or woman to come forward to assist with the investigation.
