Colorado Charges Against "Dougherty Gang" Delayed

MIAMI (CBS4) – The leveling of charges against thee siblings from Florida accused of crimes here, in Georgia and Colorado, have been delayed about a week.

Lee Grace Dougherty, 29, and her two brothers, 26-year old Dylan and 21-year-old Ryan Edward, are being held in Colorado on charges in that state of attempted first-degree murder and assault in two counties, Pueblo and Huerfano, because officers from both counties were involved in the chase that led to their arrest.

During a hearing on Monday in Pueblo, Assistant District Attorney james Coursey said the case should be tried in Huefano where the chase began.

Also on Monday, an attorney for Ryan Dougherty said he needs medical attention because he may have a concussion.

Ryan and Dylan Dougherty Stanley appeared for the court hearing but their sister did not.

Last Monday, the search for the so-called Dougherty Gang shifted to Colorado after police and FBI officials said they believed the siblings made a purchase at an outdoors store in Colorado Springs and were headed to a campground or rural area to try to avoid capture. Two days later they were taken into custody.

The nationwide manhunt began August 2nd after police said they fired at least 20 shots at a Florida officer, who tried to pull them over for speeding, during in a chase which reached speeds of up to 100 mph.

Hours later, the trio allegedly robbed a bank in Valdosta, Georgia about 210 miles north. One robber brandished an AK-47 assault rifle while another was photographed by a security camera waving a machine pistol, the FBI said.
