MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) - An investigation is underway into a double shooting early Monday morning on South Beach.
Police spokeswoman Vivian Thayer said around 12:30 a.m. an officer was flagged down by a man with a gunshot wound on 7th Street between Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue. The injured man, identified as 21-year old Shaquille Harris, was able to give police a description of the person who shot him and the car he was in. He was then taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital as a trauma alert.
Harris said he was out having a good time with his friends and his brother when he was shot.
"He doesn't bother anybody, he's a good kid, I don't see why anybody would want to hurt him," said Harris' ex-girlfriend who didn't wish to be identified. "He's doing okay, he is under sedation and he is responding but everything is okay."

Police pulled over a car that matched the description given by Harris near the Miami Beach Convention Center a short time later.
"The vehicle was located at 19th Street and Convention Center Drive with four occupants inside. One of the occupants suffered a gunshot wound to the hand," said police spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez.
Johnannes Dbruine, who is vacationing on Miami Beach, said he heard the gunshots.
"I thought it was fireworks because of Spring Break because there is a lot of noise here on the street. I woke up and I heard three or four, bang, bang, bang," said Dbruine. "You hear a lot of bad things about Miami but you feel really safe here. Now you don't feel so comfortable."
Police have not said what may have led to the shooting.
