Don't Panic: Terrorism Drill At MIA Saturday
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Bus and rail passengers beware: a terrorism drill is planned for Saturday at The Miami Intermodal Center at Miami International Airport.
The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA), Miami-Dade Transit (MDT) and numerous first responders will participate in a Mass Transit Operational Exercise Saturday, November 9, 2013.
The field exercise will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Miami Intermodal Center (MIC) at the Miami International Airport station, and later at the Tri-Rail Metrorail transfer station at approximately 10:00 a.m.
The scenario at the MIA station will pertain to the detection of suspicious packages. The exercise on the train will involve suspicious smoke and the evacuation of passengers.
The operation is a project of the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) Mass Transit and Passenger Rail Division.
