Don't Drink The Water; Boil Order Issued For Parts Of Broward
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) - If you want to wash the car or water the plants you're good to go in a number of North Broward cities, but if you actually want to drink the water, you'll have to boil it after routine tests uncovered fecal matter and E.Coli bacteria.
A well at a water plant serving Broward County Water and Wastewater Services (WWS) customers in Pompano Beach, Deerfield Beach, Lighthouse Point, and the City of Coconut Creek, tested high for amounts of E. Coli.
The affected well has been taken out of service, officials say. As a precaution, residents are being urged to boil their drinking water or use bottled water until further notice, a real annoyance on a busy holiday weekend.
Water officials can't say when the water might be officially safe to drink; it all depends on the results of tests. Officials will be testing water samples all weekend and will notify residents when it is safe to consume the water without being boiled first.
