Dolphins vs. Broncos Injury Reports: Peyton Manning Missing Key Weapons
By Abraham Gutierrez
Injury reports for the Week 12 game between the Miami Dolphins and the Denver Broncos have been published, and by the looks of it, the home squad will have some shuffling to do prior to Sunday’s clash in the Mile High City.
A total of 25 players comprise this week’s lists, with Joe Philbin accounting for 13 of those names, while John Fox penciled in 12. The news for the Fins is that only one player has been ruled out of Sunday’s game, while the Broncos are in danger of missing up to five key (offensive) players.
Unable to participate in team practices due to injury, which usually leads to a DNP on gameday, were the following Denver players: [running backs] Montee Ball (groin) and Ronnie Hillman (foot), [tight end] Julius Thomas (ankle) and [wide receiver] Emmanuel Sanders (concussion).
An additional three players were a “no-go” in some capacity this week, as the following Broncos were able to partake in limited practice: [tight end] Virgil Green (calf) [safety] Quinton Carter (knee) and [tackle] Ryan Clady (groin). And finally, there are those players who, despite their injury, were able to participate in full team practices.
The following players were able to take 100 percent of the snaps, which is usually a good indicator they will suit up come Sunday afternoon: [tackle] Paul Cornick (shoulder), [running back] Juwan Thompson (ankle), [linebacker] Steven Johnson (ankle) and [safety] David Bruton (ankle).
As stated above, even though Miami reported 13 hobbled guys, only [cornerback] Cortland Finnegan (ankle) and [linebacker] Jonathan Freeny (hamstring) did not participate in practice. While Finnegan’s status remains a question mark, the Fins have ruled out Freeny, stating he will not play in Week 12, and listed as “out indefinitely” going forward.
Moreover, a number of key offensive players are found in this week’s “limited participation in practice” bunch, including the franchise’s starting signal-caller, wideout, tight end and guard. Nevertheless, all indications are that everyone should be available in this showdown of AFC playoff hopefuls.
The following Dolphins players were only able to partake on limited team practices this week: [quarterback] Ryan Tannehill (left, non-throwing shoulder), [guards] Daryn Colledge (back) and Mike Pouncey (hip), [wide receivers] Mike Wallace (calf) and Jarvis Landry (shoulder), [linebacker] Kelvin Sheppard (hip/groin) and [tight end] Charles Clay (knee).
Finally, much like the Broncos, there were players whose injuries were significant enough to cost them any practice time. The following Fins participated in full team practices, which enables fantasy owners to plug them in this week as starters: [safety] Jimmy Wilson (hamstring), [running back] Lamar Miller (shoulder) and [linebacker] Koa Misi (ankle).
The (6-4) Miami Dolphins and the (7-3) Denver Broncos are scheduled to collide Sunday afternoon at 4:25 p.m. Eastern Time. This game will be played at Sports Authority Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado, and will be broadcast live on CBS Sports (CBS-4 Miami).
