Dolphins To Meet With Mike Shanahan Regarding Coaching Vacancy

DAVIE (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins season has been over for less than 24 hours but the team is already openly searching for is next head coach.
Per a report by Miami-based Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com, the first big name on Miami's list has been revealed.
Two-time Super Bowl winning head coach Mike Shanahan will meet with Dolphins officials on Tuesday to discuss the head coaching job.
It's mentioned in the report that this will be Shanahan's second interview with Miami, with the first coming on December 22nd in New York, which is where the next meeting will take place.
Shanahan's career coaching record, including the playoffs, is 178-144. That spans 20 seasons with the Los Angeles Raiders, Denver Broncos and Washington Redskins.
While coaching Denver he saw the most success, leading the franchise to back-to-back Super Bowl wins in 1997 and 1998.
In addition, Shanahan was also the offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers team that won Super Bowl XXIX in 1994.
Some feel that Shanahan's most successful years are behind him, especially considering the way his tenue ended in Washington.
The Dolphins are also set to meet with Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase on Thursday, Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin on Tuesday and Miami interim head coach Dan Campbell on Friday.
UPDATE
The Miami Herald is reporting that the Dolphins interviewed former Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith on Monday.
Additionally, ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that Miami is requesting interviews with Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and defensive coordinator Matt Patricia, as well as Bills assistant head coach Anthony Lynn.
There is no word at this time whether the Dolphins have been grated interviews with either of those three coaches, who all happen to currently be employed by AFC East rival teams.
