Dolphins Team Plane Delayed After Clipping Another Plane
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins didn't just have problems on the field Wednesday night against the Dallas Cowboys, they also had problems leaving Dallas.
According to CBS4 News sports anchor Kim Bokamper, the team's charter plane was delayed and had to be towed back to the terminal after its wing clipped the tail of a parked jet while being pushed back for takeoff at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Lynn Lunsford said both American Airlines jets were damaged.
Nobody was hurt.
American spokeswoman Andrea Huguely said the winglet of a Boeing 767 clipped the tail of an empty MD-80. The incident happened in a non-operational area where American provides charter service.
Both jets were taken out of service for inspection
Huguely said a replacement American jet carrying the Dolphins arrived in Miami around 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
"So tired and haven't even left Dallas yet," receiver Brian Hartline said on Twitter. "Aaaaand the rumor is we backed into another plane... On the runway #awesome! Anyone else awake?"
"Runway crew backed the plane into another plane and wrecked the wing," offensive tackle Andrew McDonald tweeted.
The new plane landed in South Florida safely early Thursday morning.
"8:08 am. Just got home from Dallas. Longer trip ever!" quarterback Matt Moore said on Twitter.
Miami lost to the Cowboys 30-13 in the preseason finale for both teams Wednesday night.
