Dolphins Steal Steinbach From Cleveland
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins have signed guard Eric Steinbach and waived offensive lineman Derek Dennis, it was announced today.
The 6-6, 295-pound Steinbach joins Miami from the Cleveland Browns where he started 62 games in four season with the Browns. In his career, Steinbach has played in 125 games with 124 starts. He originally entered the NFL as a second round selection (33rd overall) of the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2003 NFL Draft. Over the course of four seasons in Cincinnati he appeared in 63 games with 62 starts along the offensive line. He was signed by the Cleveland Browns as an unrestricted free agent in 2007.
Steinbach played collegiately at Iowa where he was a first-team All-Big Ten performer (2001, 2002), named Big Ten Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year (2002), and a consensus first-team All-American (2002). Born April 4, 1980 in New Lenox, Illinois, Steinbach attended Providence Catholic High School in New Lenox. As a senior he was named conference most valuable player and first-team all-state as well as a Super Prep and PrepStar all-American.
