Dolphins Spruce Up Military Family's Hollywood Home
HOLLYWOOD (CBS4) – While their season may not have been spectacular, the Miami Dolphins will always be stars to a Hollywood family – not for their play on the field, but for their hard work off of it.
Members of the Miami Dolphins Foundation and Special Teams Program partnered with the volunteers of Rebuilding Together to renovate a home for a Hollywood military family in need during the holiday season.
On Tuesday the Dolphins players and more than 50 volunteers painted and did some landscaping at the Lea family home in Hollywood.
"It's really amazing, it's just, I don't know how to tell you, it's a miracle," said Leslye Lea.
A Navy veteran, Lea lives with her 79-year-old mother and 16-year-old daughter. The home has been in the family for more than three decades but has really gone downhill over the last couple of years.
"Being out here is a little different than saying you want to be here, but its really what gives you a great feeling," said Dolphins tight end Anthony Fasano.
Of the three bedrooms in the home, only one of three is being used and shared by Leslye and her mother, as the other two have buckets in them to catch the water during the ongoing rainy season. Tuesday's renovations included repairing the roof.
Best Buy in Davie has donated two new televisions to the family and Rooms To Go will donate furniture to the house on January 3rd.
