Dolphins Sign CB Brent Grimes
DAVIE (CBSMiami) - The Miami Dolphins may have partially plugged a glaring hole at cornerback after letting Sean Smith leave via free agency.
On Saturday, the team announced that they had signed cornerback Brent Grimes.
"We are very excited that we were able to reach an agreement with Brent," said Dolphins General Manager Jeff Ireland. "His experience and history of play making production will add a great deal to our secondary."
The 5-10, 183-pound Grimes joins Miami after spending the last six seasons with the Atlanta Falcons (2007-12), where he played in 59 games with 43 starts. He has notched 205 tackles, 13 interceptions and 56 passes defensed in his career.
He was originally signed as a rookie free agent by the Atlanta Falcons on May 16, 2006. Grimes was also a 2010 Pro Bowl selection.
