Dolphins Picking In Top 10 In 2012 Draft

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – After starting the season 0-7, the Miami Dolphins finished the year going 6-3. But those victories came at a cost in draft positioning for the 2012 NFL Draft.

The NFL released the official draft order for the top 10 in the 2012 Draft and currently, the Dolphins will draft either eighth or ninth.

The Fins' position will be determined by a coin flip because Miami finished with the same record and strength of schedule as the Carolina Panthers.

That means the Dolphins are completely out of the Andrew Luck sweepstakes and now must determine just how valuable Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Robert Griffin III is and figure out if they want to trade up to select him in the draft.

The St. Louis Rams own the number two pick and already have a franchise quarterback in Sam Bradford.

But the Rams have holes everywhere else on the team, meaning that they could be ready to auction the second overall pick and a shot at RGIII to the highest bidder.

Outside of Luck and RGIII, there currently are no other true franchise quarterbacks available in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Quarterback is the position that both Fins owner Stephen Ross and general manager Jeff Ireland have said is the top priority in the offseason.
