DAVIE (CBSMiami/AP) — The Miami Dolphins blowout win over the San Diego Chargers may have come at a price.

A person familiar with the situation says Dolphins reserve defensive back Michael Thomas has a chest injury that will likely require surgery.

The person said surgery would end Thomas' season.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Monday because the Dolphins hadn't released information about the injury.

Thomas played in nickel and dime packages this year and was a key contributor on special teams.

He became well known among Dolphins fans after making a game-winning interception in his NFL debut last December against New England's Tom Brady.
