Dolphins Injury Report: Adam Gase Pencils 11 Injured Players, Including Three Offensive Linemen
By Abraham Gutierrez
For a second consecutive week, the Miami Dolphins could be without the services of key players on both sides of the football, this according to the Week 12 injury report submitted by head coach Adam Gase. In total, there are 11 injured players in Miami’s locker room, out of which, one has been ruled out, two are doubtful and eight are questionable for Sunday’s game versus the San Francisco 49ers at Hard Rock Stadium.
Mike Pouncey Out, Branden Albert Doubtful
After aggravating the same hip injury that caused him to miss the first four games, center Mike Pouncey will miss his sixth game of the season and his second straight. The sixth-year man out of Florida is nursing a recurring injury that some believe may be career-threatening.
In addition to Pouncey, Gase is in danger of having yet another key offensive lineman absent this week. Listed as doubtful because of an injured wrist, tackle (T) Branden Albert was unable to practice this week and his status will be a game-time decision.
Xavien Howard Doubtful, Laremy Tunsil Questionable
The only other player listed as doubtful this week against the Niners is cornerback Xavien Howard. The rookie out of Baylor is dealing with a knee injury that has caused him to miss the last six games. Even though he was able to practice on a limited basis this week, Howard’s status will also be a game-time decision.
From the eight players listed as questionable in Week 12, the one to keep a close eye on is 13th overall pick in this year’s NFL draft, tackle Laremy Tunsil. Nursing a bum shoulder, the Ole Miss product was able to participate in limited practice this week while wearing a brace on his left shoulder.
With so many voids in the offensive line, Tunsil’s presence could be key in a contest that has “trap game” written all over it. The former two-time First-Team All-SEC exited last week’s win over the Los Angeles Rams in the second quarter and was unable to return.
“I won’t know … It’s going to be to the wire,” Gase said of Tunsil’s status for Sunday. “We did what we could with him [at Wednesday’s practice]. We’ve got time. We’ll see what happens. We’ve got to see how he feels.”
In addition to the aforementioned players, Fins fans should also keep close tabs on the playing status of a few other players. Off to his best year as a Dolphin, defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was limited at practice this week due to an injured knee and is also questionable to start.
Adam Gase Treats Jarvis Landry's Injury with kid gloves
Another big name listed in the Dolphins NFL Week 12 injury report is wide receiver Jarvis Landry. Slowed by an injured shoulder, the second-year LSU standout was seen wearing the red, non-contact jersey this week, as Gase is treating his injury with kid gloves.
“We didn't want any unnecessary contact [in practice],” said Miami’s first-year head coach regarding Landry’s injury. “Obviously, the way he plays, he gets enough contact during a game. We were just trying to be smart.”
