Dolphins Game To Be Broadcast On CBS4
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins and New York Jets are bitter enemies and set to play this weekend at Sun Life Stadium and thanks to some last minute ticket sales, the game will be broadcast exclusively on CBS4 this Sunday.
The Dolphins were granted a 24-hour extension by the NFL for its local television blackout deadline. The NFL requires the Dolphins to sell-out of 85 percent of the non-premium seating for a game to be televised locally.
Last weekend's game against the Oakland Raiders was not sold out, so the Dolphins bought the remaining tickets for the game at roughly $0.34 on the dollar in order for the game to be broadcast locally; something most NFL teams will do if they are close to sell-outs.
The Dolphins are one of a few teams who asked the NFL for the reduced 85 percent sell-out of non-premium tickets in 2012. The NFL typically requires a full 100 percent of tickets to be sold, but agreed to new rules this season after some Congressional questions began to be asked.
Tickets on secondary markets, like StubHub.com, are currently selling for a minimum of $65.00 for Sunday's Jets game.
The game is set to kick off at 1 p.m.
