Dolphins Continue To Suck For Luck
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – After the Miami Dolphins' latest loss, bringing their season record to 0-7; the team continues to be in a great position to win the Suck for Luck sweepstakes.
If the Dolphins continue to lose at their current pace, they will likely become the second team to run their record to 0-16 on the season, a feat accomplished only once by the Detroit Lions.
But, the Dolphins have stiff competition in their race to the bottom of the rankings. The Indianapolis Colts are also 0-8 on the season.
This has brought up the question of what happens if both teams finish winless on the season?
According to profootballtalk.com, to break a tie, two things will be considered before the number one pick is awarded.
The strength of schedule for both teams would be compared. In other words, all of the wins and losses by the Colts and Dolphins' players would be counted. If one team has a harder schedule, they would be awarded the top pick.
However, according to profootballtalk, if the record is identical, several tiebreakers would be used.
Profotoballtalk said the tiebreakers used to determine the pick would be: "best combined record among conference teams in points scored and allowed; best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed; best net points in conference games; best net points in all games; best net touchdowns in all games."
And if there was still a tie after that, it would come down to a coin flip.
So, the Dolphins need to lose. But they need to lose so badly that there can be no question they are the worst team in football. A 62-7 shellacking wouldn't hurt the Fins chances in the Suck for Luck sweepstakes.
Sadly, this is where Dolphins fans are today; sick of losing, but willing to lose so bad that they may get "Luck"y enough to draft Andrew Luck.
