DAVIE (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins added some depth behind quarterbacks Ryan Tannehill and Matt Moore on Sunday, claiming Logan Thomas off waivers.
Thomas was selected in the 4th round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals after playing collegiately at Virginia Tech.
He has appeared in two games during his brief NFL career, completing 1-of-9 passes for 81 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
To make room for Thomas on the active roster, the Dolphins announced that rookie running back Jay Ajayi was placed on short-term injured reserve, which means he is ineligible to practice for six weeks from time of injury and cannot play in a game until after eight weeks have passed.
The injury took place during the Dolphins final preseason game on September 4th.
Miami also signed offensive lineman Sam Brenner, linebacker Mike Hull and safety Ced Thompson to the practice squad. All three players had been cut recently by the Dolphins.
Thompson was taken by Miami in the 5th round of this year's draft while Hull was added as an undrafted free agent. Brenner had spent the past two years with the Dolphins and his release came as a surprise to many.
