Dolphins Beat Chiefs 31-3, 1st Win Of Season
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (CBSMiami/AP) — It was a huge day for the formerly winless Miami Dolphins. Not not only did they win their first game of the season against the Kansas City Chiefs - they won in a big way.
Matt Moore threw for 244 yards and three touchdowns, Reggie Bush had 92 yards rushing and another score and the Miami Dolphins won the game 31-3.
"We had a couple of big plays, which kind of lit the fire," Moore said. "You make a couple of big plays early and there's no telling what can happen."
"I'm just happy for the guys in our locker room," said coach Tony Sparano. "All I've wanted to do for seven weeks is see these guys smile."
Miami's defense gave up only three points at Kansas City. The three points were the fewest points that Miami has given up since December 7, 2008 when the Dolphins defeated Buffalo 16-3 in Toronto.

Moore, who took over after Chad Henne had season-ending shoulder surgery, became the first Dolphins quarterback since Chad Pennington in 2008 to throw three TD passes. Two of them went to tight end Anthony Fasano and another to Brandon Marshall, who finished with eight catches for 106 yards. Miami's 31 points were the most they have scored this season. The previous high this season was 24 points in the season opener vs. New England (9/12).
The virtuoso performance by the Miami offense helped brush away the spectre of an 0-7 start, which included a pair of disheartening losses the past two weeks: The Dolphins blew a 15-point lead in an overtime loss to Denver and a seven-point lead last week against the New York Giants.
"This is all about the players," Sparano said. "These guys did a super job all week long of putting all the garbage behind them."
With the victory, Miami leads the overall 16-2. Dating back to 1993, the Dolphins have won eight of the last 10 meetings between the two teams.
Miami (1-7) and Indianapolis had been the winless teams left in the NFL, but the Dolphins had come close to breaking through the past two weeks. They blew a 15-point lead in an overtime loss to Denver and a seven-point lead last week against the New York Giants.
Matt Cassel was 20 of 39 for 253 yards for Kansas City (4-4).
