'Dolphin Tale 2' Set In Florida, Opens In Theaters
CLEARWATER (CBSMiami/AP) — The family-friendly sequel to the 2011 "Dolphin Tale" movie is hitting theaters, and it's again inspired by the real-life rescue and rehabilitation of sea animals in Florida.
"Dolphin Tale 2" opens Friday.
It's set at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.
Like the first movie, Winter the dolphin and her prosthetic tail figures heavily into the film - but is joined by Hope, a stray dolphin calf.
In real life, Hope was discovered on the night of the first film's wrap party in 2010.
The movie brings together the original cast, including Harry Connick Jr., Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman.
The first "Dolphin Tale" earned $72.3 million domestically.
Recently, Clearwater Marine Aquarium officials said rehabilitation and marine rescues, not entertainment, will be the focus of a new $68 million aquatic center.
