Dog Recovering After Being Shot Outside Of Home

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A dog is on the mend and back with his family after being shot last week in Northwest Miami-Dade.
Oso the German Shepard mix was released from the vet Wednesday after being shot in the head.
"I'm feeling really happy he's home," said the dogs owner Melanie DeLeon. "I will hug him take care of him and make sure that he's alright."
The one-and-a-half-year old dog was outside of his home near NW 27th avenue and 123rd Street last Wednesday night when someone shot him in the head.
"I heard like pop. Like a big noise," said Miyurkis Wong, the dogs owner. "I ran over and I see he was bleeding and I don't know what happened."
The bullet went through the dogs head to his leg.
Miami-Dade Animal Services stepped-in and performed the surgery at no cost. In order to save Oso's life, vets had to amputate his left leg.
Oso is now recovering and readjusting to life on three legs.
His family says they feel fortunate their puppy is alive, and hope whoever shot him will get caught before they take their violence out on someone else.
"If they do this to my dog today, it can be maybe your kids or any part of your family," said Wong. "Please tell the police because I know maybe someone had to see something."
