Doctors Spare Their Hair For Patients
MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) — A Miami doctor will go under the knife, or in this case scissors, to help cancer patients on Thursday.
Dr. J Grey Faulkenberry will sacrifice his long, curly, dark-brown hair.
Pediatric cancer patients at the Holtz Children's Hospital at the University of Miami's Jackson Memorial Medical Center will cut the locks of a Miami doctor for charity.
More than a foot of his hair will be given to Locks of Love, a non-profit organization who provides hairpieces to children who have lost their hair due to illness such as cancer.
Dr. Faulkenberry won't be alone though. Jessica Chee, Jackson's internal medicine-pediatrics program coordinator, will join him in the 'big chop' where patients will cut her waist-length hair.
Both Dr. Faulkenberry and Chee have donated their hair to Locks of Love in the past.
