DNA Matches Severed Head, Mutilated Corpse
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBS4) - It's a match. Ft. Lauderdale police have confirmed that DNA taken from a severed head found along a Dania Beach canal matches a mutilated corpse found floating in a canal in a Ft. Lauderdale neighborhood.
The Broward Sheriff's Office said the head was found November, 14th, in the 800 block of Griffin Road, by an auto parts store employee who works in the area. He said the head was in a bucket, with concrete around the hair. The human remains were found a week earlier, November 6th, in a canal near Federal Highway and NE 26th Street.
Based on the head and remains, police said the person was a white male, 5'8" ro 6' tall and wore size ten sneakers. They don't know much more about him except that some tried to hide his body after he was dead.
