Diet? What Diet? Girl Scout Cookies Arrive In S. Fla.
MIAMI (CBS4) -- For those of you trying to stay on a New Year's Diet, the Girl Scouts are about to make it more difficult because it's Girl Scout cookie time across South Florida.
The cookie sale officially started in Miami-Dade on Thursday, January 17th.
The Girl Scouts of the USA have been selling cookies for nearly 80 years.
From Thin Mints to Samoas, all the favorites are back for a total of eight varieties of cookies, all with zero trans-fat.
But for all you cookie monsters out there, be prepared to shell out $4.00 per box.
The annual cookie sale is part of a big business for the Girl Scouts. Revenue from the sale makes up a large part of the yearly budget, so every cookie counts. The program is the largest girl-led business in the country and generates over $700 million for girls and communities across the country.
In Miami-Dade, the annual Girl Scout cookie sale runs from January 17th to February 14th. In Broward County, the cookie sale runs from January 24th to February 17th.
