Diane von Furstenberg Debuts Perfume At Aventura Mall
AVENTURA (CBS4) - For decades, the name Diane von Furstenberg has been synonymous with classic style and elegance.
Whether it's her bold prints or her signature iconic wrap dresses, a dress she launched in the mid 70s that sold over 5 million in one year, Diane is a legend in her industry.
"The thing about that is I've seen so many generations already wearing my dresses and now the people are young- and starting their lives, and wearing it," said von Furstenberg. "It seems to be a relevant dress. It's fun."
A fun business that has made her a household name. It wasn't until she married her first husband, that she decided to become a designer.
"When I first started i didn't know what I wanted to do." Diane said, "But, I always knew the woman I wanted to be and I wanted to be this independent woman who knows what she s doing and I became that woman through fashion. It has really my mission in life to empower women"
Von Fursenberg is now married to media mogul Barry Diller.
Her latest venture is a self titled perfume, which she recently launched at Sephora in the Aventura Mall.
"Diane is my first name. It's the name I was born with and therefore it's very personal to me," said von Furstenberg. "It has all my strength, all my curiosity, all my wisdom, and all my secrets of seduction in this perfume."
At age 64, this Belgium born beauty who has fans all over the world says she finds her inspiration in empowering women.
"I think that's what my message is I am giving with my perfume is to be the woman you want to be. So it's all about confidence really and feeling good and having a good relationship with yourself," Diane said,
The Diane perfume is on sale here at Sephora, Bloomingdales and Nordstrom and Diane Von Furstenberg's signature stores it runs $65 to $110.
