Deputies Suspended After Arrest For Illegal Detail At Strip Club

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Three deputies bonded out of a jail they normally book criminals into with no comment.
The trio turned themselves in on Wednesday, accused of working an illegal detail at a strip club in Pompano Beach. All three deputies are now suspended without pay pending an outcome to the investigation.
Reginald Arteta, 29; Alberto Ferreras, 31; and Troy Wilkins, 49, are facing official misconduct charges for allegedly working security in full uniform at the Pink Pony Strip Club and never reporting it to the Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO).
The department said the three got paid in cash and received extra money when the club remained open past its permitted time of 2 a.m.
Investigators said that during the off duty detail, that was not authorized, the deputies were compensated in cash and the establishment was able to remain open until passed their permitted time.

BSO's corruption unit started undercover surveillance at the strip club after getting a tip from the Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco.
The division also accused the deputies of covering up illegal drug use but those allegations were unfounded.
Deputy Wilkins is Sheriff Scott Israel's former body guard and driver.
Wilkins and Ferreras are also charged with tampering with a witness and unlawful use of a department issued cell phone.
"Sends a clear and loud message to the community and agency that anyone on BSO who engages in misconduct will be dealt with fairly," said Israel.
