Rain Fall Threat From Debby Diminishing
MIAMI (CBSMiami) - The threat of heavy rain over northern Florida is diminishing as Tropical Depression Debby moves away from the state.
At 11 a.m. Wednesday the center of the storm was located about 90 miles east of St. Augustine. The system's maximum sustained winds were 35 mph as it moved to the east-northeast at 10 miles per hour. Debby is expected to take a turn to the east-northeast in the next day or so. Little change in intensity is expected over the next 48 hours.
Even though the storm has weakened, the National Weather Service expects more flooding concerns in the Big Bend, as Debby dumps more rain over areas that have already seen five to ten inches. Some of Debby's lingering rain bands could dump as much as an inch of rain on South Florida.
