Hialeah PD Search For Man In Double Murder Case

HIALEAH (CBSMiami) - Hialeah Police say they are looking for a man to find out if he has any information on a double murder in their city.
Officers said they are looking for Adrian Leyva, who they say knew the victims. Police want to find him and see if he knows anything about the murders of two women found dead inside of a Hialeah home.
Police so far have released few details about the case, saying it is an open investigation. They have not said if the women were targeted or if this crime was random.
Police were called to the efficiency home at E 23rd Street and 10th Avenue on Monday afternoon. They spent hours at the home collecting evidence on Monday and on Tuesday afternoon, detectives returned to the scene. They are also looking for any surveillance tape that could help them with their probe.
Neighbors say two women, an elderly woman and a woman in her 20s or 30s, were found dead inside. They say the family of the elderly woman went to check on her because she wasn't answering her phone and discovered her body.
"Her daughter got suspicious you know. She called her, she called her, nothing. Knocked on the door nothing. The air conditioner was still on, the lights were on. That's when she asked my neighbor for a hammer and screwdriver to open the door and when she does there laid her mom," said neighbor Maria Barquin.
The body of the younger woman was found shortly thereafter. Hialeah police would only say that the women were neighbors.
"Anybody could have been a victim. Me the neighbor, anybody," said Barquin.
Barquin said the elder woman who died, Martha Gomez-Perdomo who she believed was in her 80s, lived in the back of the home.
"Very nice lady. Never any trouble. What I keep saying is she was just at the wrong place at the wrong time," said Barquin.
"She was never a problem," she said. "She never bothered a soul. It hurt me very very much. I cried a lot. She minded her own business. She could barely walk. She checked on her mail. She took out her garbage. She is going to be missed."
Both women rented units in the home. Rachel Balboa, the daughter of their landlord, told CBS4's Peter D'Oench, "It's shocking and scary. This is a really nice neighborhood."
Balboa told D'Oench that the younger women broke up with a boyfriend in recent months and was planning to move soon to Las Vegas.
Both bodies were taken to the medical examiner's office for identification and to determine their cause of death.
