One Dead In Triple Shooting Outside Of Southwest Miami-Dade Home
SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) – A triple shooting in Southwest Miami-Dade turned deadly for one man early Thursday morning in front of a Southwest Miami-Dade home, while three others were hurt including a Corrections officer.
Miami-Dade Police say several people were outside of the home near SW 247th Terrace and 113th Court shortly after 2:00 a.m. when there was an exchange of gunfire, according to Miami-Dade Police spokesman Alvaro Zabaleta.
Neighbors heard the gunfire and then a woman screaming.
"I had just laid down in bed and I heard like 3 pops," recalled neighbor Kathryn Rey. "I was curious because I kept hearing noise, like a voice, like a woman's voice in the distance."
When officers arrived, they found one woman had been shot. She was transported to Jackson South Hospital and then airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical but stable condition.
Then police got reports of another victim.
"Within that time frame, we got reports from Homestead Hospital that a male arrived to their facility, also suffering from an apparent gunshot wound," said Zabaleta. "He was transferred over to Jackson South where he succumbed to his injuries."

A third person, the off duty Miami-Dade Corrections officer, was grazed in the hand by a bullet and treated on the scene. He is a two year veteran of the department.
Police also say when the shooting took place, a woman in a car reportedly tried to get away from the gunfire and leave the scene at a high rate of speed, but she struck a parked car which caused her vehicle to flip over. She was also hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
Detectives are still trying to determine what happened, who was firing and why.
"At this point we're still trying to determine what did occur, how things occurred. We still do not want to name anyone as a subject or a victim. We don't know who are the victims, and who the subjects are," said Zabaleta.
